A Birthday Message: Year of the Dragon.

For my birthday this year, not only did it fall on the exact day of the week that I entered this world in the 90's, but it's also Lunar New Year- the year of the wood dragon! So I'm in my Sisqo year, yall!

My birthday looked a lot different from last year as I stayed in Texas instead of taking my talents out of the country and also got to spend the weekend with my mom. We mostly just ate, visited some stores I talk to her about, and argued (trials of having a mother daughter relationship I guess). What I found refreshing was the symbolism of a few things that happened yesterday:

1) Lunar New Year- Personally, I always look at my birthday as my own personal New Year so to have the Chinese New Year fall on the same date this year, I was so happy! Since I'm me, I did a little research on what the animal would be and what the symbolism is there and it was looking up! Now I know I wasn't technically born during a dragon year, like I said my birthday is my own new year so it's a rebirth if you will. Which means I'm carrying the meaning of the wood dragon with me this year. In the article linked above it mentions "t
his sign is an auspicious one, as dragons are seen as intelligent and bold self-starters with big ambitions."

2) My Cycle Started- I can't lie, this was a bummer when I was getting ready to go out seeing as it came a day early, but when I thought about it, our cycle is there to shed the uterine lining, releasing old and negative energies, and of course creating space for you to hopefully fertilize an egg next month. That's kind of poetic to be happening on your birthday. Shedding all the negativity of the past for newness and positivity to dwell.

In the article above it linked the significance through zodiacs. For my fellow Aquarius girlies out there it says "your period-birthday connection may inspire you to make a positive impact on your community and the world. Explore your unique ideas and contributions to a cause that resonates with you."

3)
It Rained- I kept thinking about old wives tales and superstitions on it raining during a wedding date (which I have to admit I did not look up but am claiming the same significance is there). They say that if it rains on your wedding day it's actually good luck. It's like a clean slate and as I try to reclaim who I am in this world, I welcome this wholeheartedly.

This may be the year of the dragon, but it's also the year of R E B I R T H, babes. I'm grateful that my experiences have lead me here and I'm praying all my dreams of peace and success in career, travel, connection and community happen this year.

Well, that's all for now...byeee!
