Throwback Post: The Black Webseries Era.

It's the 1st Thursday of Black History Month so it's only right to throw it back to a simpler time when Black creatives were going crazy with making shows. It was peak "Imma just do it myself" activities where we all felt seen on screen. The Youtube screen that is.
Picture it, it's 2012 and you're avoiding doing homework because Youtube just sent you a notification that a new episode of "That Guy" is on Black and Sexy TV. You do what a sensible person would do and take a 15-20 minute break to watch the episode and another 30 minutes to reflect on what just happened. What a time!
It's like everyone collectively was tired of not seeing different stories being told, and thanks to Youtube, decided it was time for a change. And change they did! The beauty of starting is knowing it's only up from there. So many creatives have gone on to star in an original show on Oprah's network, write for popular shows, direct a Netflix film, win Emmy's, and have offers to create with Shonda Rhimes, and WarnerMedia to name a few.
