Nine Days.

Thanks to social media and streaming, we get more knowledge of music, shows, and tv we other wise may not have known about-- especially when it comes to the indie projects. This weekend I watched Nine Days because of a suggestion from Hey Fran Hey on The Friendzone. This film, also the directorial debut of Edson Oda, was released in 2020 and opened in nationwide theaters in  August 2021.

Outside of Fran mentioning Winston Duke and Zazie Beetz were in this, I have no clue if she said she liked or disliked the film. But what I DO remember is her saying it was a "slow burn". Knowing that going in, what helped me was reading the description so I knew what I was getting into because usually I go into book or movie suggestions blindly lol.

Nine Days is about
"a man interviewing five unborn souls over the course of nine days to determine which one should be given a new life on Earth." I love watching and reading things that give a different perspective on life and how we all came to be. I'm nobody's film buff so I'll spare any thoughts on juxtapositions of this framing and that scene and instead talk about my favorite performances and how I felt after watching.

Babes, Zazie Beetz was phenomenal! Her character, Emma, was the black sheep of all Will's (Winston Duke) candidates. Her inquisitive nature about everything
, her optimistic outlook on human life, and the way she helped Will look within about his human experience were quite literally amazing to see. She found happiness in what some would say are mundane and made me ask myself certain questions like what experiences have I done that I appreciate enough to want to relive.

This was a really beautifully told story that I'm happy I was able to see especially in the first month of the year. Kind of like a lil reset of putting things into perspective if you will. There's alot more I wish I could say, but I'm not into spoilers so instead watch the trailer below! If you have Starz or Hulu with Starz you can watch there as well.

Well, that's all for now. Byeee!
