A Very THANKFUL Thursday.
As the year comes to an end, it creates space for slowing down and reflecting. For me, this year has been an eye opening one. Pushing myself past mental blocks, reflecting on positions people hold in my life, trying to find my happiness again, and envisioning the future I want for myself.
This Thursday may be Thanksgiving Thursday but I'm throwing it back to the things that I'm thankful for this year.
1) My Lord and Savior
In a nod to every black celeb's speech during award season, "I want to first give thanks and honor to my Lord and savior Jesus Christ because without Him there is no me". I'll tell you right now, I don't think I have ever leaned on my faith as much as I have this year. From uncertainty of what I though would be my entrepreneurial journey at the top of the year into this very new industry of finance and licensing God has truly CARRIED me through this year. So much so that I've started back watching church again, getting interested in devotionals to get even more familiar with the word and how to apply it to my life, and of course revisiting REAL Gospel music from the 80's- mid 2000's.
2) My vulnerability
I've learned this year that I have an ability to relate to people in a way that makes them feel seen. I never thought about it in this way since I believe we should all be more vulnerable with each other to have true connection. But at my job, when a new hire who came after me has some kind of blow to their confidence, my OLC always asks me to speak to them. I'm honestly humbled that she thinks of me and that the people speaking to me feel comfortable too. I wish for everybody to have someone in their corner who they feel comfortable enough to just be themselves with. It's a freeing feeling to show up as your full self with people.
3) Health
I'm very much a health over everything girl. I also recognize that my battle with sugar needs to be addressed but despite that, knowing that I make the decision daily to either eat good foods, workout for 30 minutes or both and seeing my lab results that reflect it make me feel so good. In addition to my own health I'm also thankful for the health my my fav 70 year old. My mother. What a blessing it is to have a mom who goes walking every day and some days pushes herself to walk 3-5 miles! My mom has had a few surgeries, but she doesn't let that stop her from trying to be better with her health. For that, I am extremely thankful.
This year still has a little over a month left and I plan to do a little reflecting on other things I'm thankful for and how I can stay in the spirit of thankfulness. I hope al of you out there have enjoyed the holiday today and created some amazing memories with family or friends!
Welp, that's all for now...byeee!
