Throwback Post: Miss Dial (2013).
By now ya'll should know that I go into most movies blind and have no clue what they're about. This one was no different. After I went on this spree of watching films (and adding them to my list) that starred Robinne Lee I came across Miss Dial which is listed as a Rom/Com...my fav! I saw that it also starred Dule and Gabrielle Union so I was hype to add it, but since I had to rent and pay to watch it I decided to wait. Finally last weekend I saw it was on Amazon Prime and pressed play! The movie is about a customer service rep (Erica) who's worried about her love life and becomes fascinated with making new and real connections with people. A film before its time with a pandemic-eque vibe to it, and as someone who's also looking for ways to escape the mundane I kinda dug Erica's interest. In her search for connection she meets a guy (Kyle) who entertains her foolishness and well the sparks were sparking.
Although I had my guard up at first because buddy was giving major hiding-out-because-I'm-a-stalker vibes, and I didn't want to see Erica going out like that, this was definitely one of those rom/com's where you actually did fall in love with both characters. However comma this movie poster has got to be one of the most misleading movie posters of all time. Not only was there no actual story between the Robinne Lee's character and Dule and Gabby, but the love story was actually with a white man! Whole time I kept wondering when he was going away and when Dule was coming back and if Gabrielle was actually her sister or something. LOL!
So would I suggest it? Sure! It's a cute watch with a great play on words and pretty on trend with how we were earlier in the pandemic. But Imma definitely need them to update that movie poster ya know?
Well, that's all for now...byeee!
