Throwback Post: First Date Shawty.
Yep, you read that right. I went on my very first date ever at over 30 years old. What can I say besides a late bloomer gon' be a late bloomer! At this age, I'm very much Tiffany Pollard in this clip with her ex. I know ya'll have already heard about me being totally oblivious to the men who've approached me in some way this year until hours or even days later. I said last time that I'd be more present and I'm happy to report I did just that.
Picture it: I'm standing in line at Quicklotz (my fav liquidation store) waiting on the store to open. I was masked up and looking pretty regular that day, but was coming off of a fresh hair appointment so my hair was looking GOODT. As a girl who loves to be aware of her surroundings, in my peripheral I notice a man standing behind me but don't think anything else of it. A few moments later he says "excuse me, where did you get your shoes?" Confused at his interest in my rubber shoes from Target I say "Target! They were like $10. Lol" From there we talked about where we were from, how we ended up in Texas, what we liked to do for fun, if we wanted kids, and all that. The doors opened before any numbers were exchanged so I went on my quest to find an accent chair and desk chairs.
Saw him again later on in the store when he asked if I was busy the next day and if I wanted to hang out. I said sure and that's how I met the Country Boy from Georgia.
Please note that I LOVE being from the south and love me a man from the south too. It's just a relatability thing there and qualities about being from the south I *think* those men possess. So yeah, I was transformed into a giddy lil teenager texting this man. The convo just felt so natural!
The next day, Labor Day, came around and I didn't know when or where we would meet up. As someone who likes to plan for things well in advance, this was a flag to me. But since he didn't know me like that yet I didn't hold it against him. The date already started off rocky because I couldn't figure out what restaurant he was waiting for me in even after asking him directly, so I was like 15-20 mins late. But once it started, it started! I had a great time eating tacos and ice cream and just walking and talking with the Country Boy from Georgia. We even ended up spending an hour or so in a record shop looking at old records and talking about them (deep in my Love Jones era lmao).
As of writing this, that is the only time we've seen each other but we text and talk on the phone occasionally. I'm currently thinking he's giving me more friend vibes which is fine I guess. All I know is this has been an interesting experience as I continue to get to know someone and figure out what I also want out of meeting and seeing people.
If anything major happens, I'll be sure to report back but until then that's all for now...Byeee!
