Return to Office Scaries.
I'm back in my "let's talk about work" bag today as I came across this article on MSN about how hybrid workers are outsmarting the system and badging into the office for a few hours then dipping. As it seems currently, the corporate girls have lost it and are requiring more days in office as we transition away from the virtual pandemic "new normal".
Speaking from my own experience, my company is in the process of opening a new office and I keep hearing that you don't build a new building to have no one in it. Meaning, we'll be back to 4 days in the office then 5 days eventually. This sounds like hell to me especially as someone who's pro-remote work and also pro-whatever helps your employees be most productive. A lot of the "more days in office" argument mostly revolves around company culture and collaboration anyway, but I want to know what the culture is that they're really trying to preserve? Because if companies truly cared about employees, you'd think if you don't complete one task a day where you'll need to physically be in the office, it can most definitely be done from home.
I remember when I was going through my testing journey and was asked to come into the office 4 days a week, I PLEADED with my team lead and let her know I worked better at home since there were less distractions and I could focus better, but due to company policy I still needed to come in all 4 days. Now that I've completed testing and training my days have been lowered to 3 days in office, but I'm anxious for the day we get told it'll be back up to 4 again.
Until then though, you know I've gotta ask...are you more productive in the office or at home? That's all for now...byeee!
