"Fake It Til You Make It"

One thing I find so wild is how many of ya'll are going about your days faking it even when you 1- don't feel a certain emotion or 2- don't even know how to do a particular task/job. Yes, unfortunately this is another career post and one that may be on the unpopular opinion side of the internet, but I actually think this way of thinking is....well psychotic. As Rhianna said in this interview when asked what she does when she doesn't feel as powerful as she usually does, she responded with "pretend". Personally I can only pretend for so long until my real feelings rear their head and now I'm possibly feeling even worse. Especially at work.

At my current job, I can't tell you how many times I've been told to "fake it til I make it". Mind you I'm talking to people about MONEY! There's no faking or playing when it comes to this topic and it just got me thinking, at work...psychologically is that way of thinking even healthy for real??? I think we can all agree that perception is often times more important than the truth. As in. it's not what you can do but what you can make people believe. So why can't I see that "Fake it 'til you make it" would fall in that category too? When I have these kinds of questions where else would I go besides GOOGLE!

I found a few articles online and this is what I've discovered: I was wrong. The idea to "fake it til you make it" really does have a positive effect on your behavioral health as told by the therapists on Psychology Today website. Pretty much like speaking your happiness into existence. But when it comes to business well....I was right. Most times it's not good. You can check out the post here from Dr. Lazarus. Usually before going into something I like to have enough confidence that I know at least 50% of what I've learned in a training, but I just keep hearing "this is a learn on the fly type job" and babes, my anxiety ain't built for that. With that, I'll leave you with a request as I enter my first full week of no training and real life job duties. Please keep ya girl on the prayer list.

Well, that's all for now...byeee!
