Throwback Post: Life in Texas.

Today I'm celebrating one month of my biggest risk yet...I moved to Texas!

At the start of this year I set my intentions for what I wanted 2023 to look like- which included job, salary, trips, activities, all that! Being in Texas just happened to be on that list.

In February a neighbor told me about an opportunity she knew about in Texas. I'd be trained for 18 months, get annual bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and work on a hybrid office model (if you know anything about me by now I HATE working in an office. I may or may not get into that later). Seeing as I told myself I wanted to finally experience what life has to offer and not hold myself back anymore, I bit.

The interview went well and I got an offer letter on March 4th with a start date of April 24th. Only thing stopping it from being super official was a background check I assumed would  take at max 1 week. Why did it take these people a month to let me know I was hired? I had all these plans to go out and look at apartments so I wouldn't be rushing once I got there, but after week 3 when they were still asking me to verify or provide information I assumed they weren't trying to hire me so I went on with my life and started preparing for my launch.

A week and a half before I was suppose to report to the office, I got an email saying "Welcome to the team!". I was pretty much the Mr. Krabs meme because I was shook and scrambling to get everything together. Thankfully I have a mother who allowed me to stay with her during the pandemic so I didn't have much to bring outside of clothes and random knickknacks. And on April 18th I shipped my car off then got on a one way to Texas!

The moment I touched down I went on apartment tours. In a span of 3 days, I went on around 10-12 while I thugged it out in an Airbnb for a bit then a hotel. On my daddy's birthday, April 29th, I moved into my VERY FIRST APARTMENT! I felt the good vibes all day that day. Even blasted New Apartment by Ari Lennox to christen the place. I'm pretty much settled in now with my air mattress and air fryer...This is peace.

Maybe it's because this is another metropolitan area, but I get a lot of Atlanta vibes so as I've been driving I get a sense that I'm at home.
I really can't wait to see what this city has to offer!
And since life and these exams I have to take are coming up fast, I'll need to take a little hiatus until I pass everything and guarantee this job!

Well, that's all for now...Byeee!
