3 Things I've Learned as a Solo Traveler So Far.
I'm still new to the solo travel thing since my last trip was my second solo trip internationally, but I can't explain how freeing it is to be on your own agenda and not concern yourself with anything other than what the day will bring you. Traveling alone is not only a great way to learn about a new country, but also yourself! Here's what I've learned so far:
Go With The Flow
Traveling sucks. Not the arriving to the destination part, but the airport mess of it all. Although situations come up during travel all the time too! What travelling really does is to keep us on our toes and to be prepared in case what we expect doesn't happen. In my last trip on my was back home I got stopped in the TSA line at the Miami airport because the expander on my carry-on wasn't zipped closed. I was SO MAD because I had just gotten off a flight with the zipper the exact way it was. After a few breaths and an angry voice note sent to my friend I realized none of this is really in our control. We're all at the mercy of the TSA...how fun lol
Trust Your Gut
Your intuition will never lie, babes. Listen to that thing. To this day I still can't believe 27 year old me got in a strangers car after walking from the beach as it was raining. This person decided to stop and help me get to my destination safely and less wet than I would've arrived. Would I do it again? Hell no, but as someone who's usually on high alert, knowing how I felt in that moment and trusting myself, in a weird way, I'm proud of me.
I Can Do Anything
Here's where the double C duo enter the room- confidence and courage. As an extroverted introvert often times I fully fall into the introvert part of me and lack a little confidence and courage to do certain things even something like talking to people. But when you're traveling alone trying to figure out where the party is or even where's the best local food you kinda need to talk to people. Be that outgoing girlie you need to be to make these new connections!
Navigating a new place in general is tough, but in a new country where they may not even speak the same language as you? If you've ever found your destination off 3 percent battery or found your way back home on your own using public transportation. sweetie you're doing amazing!
The great thing about life is knowing even when you think you've experienced a lot there's so much more to learn! I've said it before and I'll say it again, I can't wait for my next solo trip!
Well, that's all for now. Byeee!
